Check as a Payment Type

Check as a Payment Type

Minimum Required POS Build: 10133

With this update, merchants can now log checks as a valid payment type directly on their POS terminals. While checks are processed offline and not settled through the payment gateway, every check transaction is still recorded under the merchant’s TPN in the iPOSpays portal, ensuring accurate reporting and cleaner reconciliation.

The flow mirrors a cash sale: merchants simply enter the check amount and tap to record the payment. This helps reduce manual tracking, cuts down reconciliation errors, and keeps the full transaction history intact across all payment types.

  • This feature is currently available only for merchants on the Tender-Based Pricing fee program.

  • These transactions will not be batched or funded, as they’re intended for recordkeeping only.

  • Batch reports will display check transactions in a separate section, clearly labeled for easy visibility.

How to Enable

  1. Log in to the iPOSpays portal using an ISO account.

  2. Navigate to S.T.E.A.M → Edit Parameters.

  3. Use the search box to find and select the desired TPN, then click Edit Parameter.

  1. Go to TransactionsCard Type, and enable Check.
  1. Click Save, then perform a parameter update on the merchant’s payment terminal for the changes to take effect.

How to Use

  1. On the terminal’s idle payment screen, enter the transaction amount and tap OK.

  2. If fees, taxes, or breakdown parameters are enabled for the TPN, a detailed breakdown screen will appear. Tap PROCEED to continue.

  1. Select Check as the payment method.

  2. The transaction will be completed and recorded.

  1. The transaction receipt will also have Type: Check printed on it for easy identification.

You can view the transaction record by logging into iPOSpays (merchant or ISO account) and navigating to:

  • Transactions → Filter icon → Alternative Payments

The check transaction will appear here automatically.

  • Batches → Alternative Payments

All check transactions are also listed here for reconciliation.
